Route is not consistently the best option yet. These tests help us see where to focus, not just where we can show a win.

What we learned

  • MetaMask: Route returned more output in all seven usable comparisons, but five attempts could not be compared. That is encouraging, not a broad reliability claim.
  • Uniswap: ETH/USDG output was close and slightly favored Uniswap. Route did better on some other tokens. There was no winner for every trade.
These are selected studies, not our complete benchmark record or a ranking of the services. Other tests have also shown gaps in Route’s output and quote speed. Those results help guide our improvements.

What we plan to improve

Faster usable quotes. Measure how much time goes into pool discovery, provider requests and transaction checks. Cut repeated work and investigate the slowest steps without skipping checks or reusing stale prices for signing. More consistent output. Revisit the pairs where Route lost. Compare the same inputs at matched blocks where possible, then check whether the gap comes from pool coverage, route selection or execution. Add integrations only when measurements justify the extra code and cost. Lower execution cost. Look for unnecessary transfers, approvals and contract layers. Compare receipt gas and actual output before calling an optimization a saving. Keep the user’s input, recipient, minimum output and expiry protected. Stronger tests. Expand trade sizes and token pairs, repeat across different market conditions, and retain failures. Measure quote timing separately from execution timing. Verify competitor transaction output where access allows, and show gas-inclusive results separately from before-gas quotes. These are priorities, not completed improvements or promised release dates. We will publish new results when the work has been tested, including regressions and losses.

What stays the same

Keep the app simple. Keep swap limits intact. Charge no Route platform fee unless we can demonstrate that Route is the most efficient option. Better benchmarks will not switch fees on automatically. Pool fees, provider costs and network gas can still apply.
