# Health

> Check that Route is in sync with the chain and ready to quote.

Returns `200` with `"ready": true` when pool state is current. Returns `503` with `"ready": false` while Route catches up; quotes return `503 Pool state not fresh` during that time.

<ResponseField name="ready" type="boolean">Whether quotes are being served.</ResponseField>
<ResponseField name="block" type="object">Latest indexed block: `number`, `hash`, `timestamp`.</ResponseField>
<ResponseField name="freshness" type="object">`fresh`, `lagBlocks` and any `reasons` it is not fresh.</ResponseField>
<ResponseField name="pools" type="integer">Number of indexed pools.</ResponseField>

The response includes other diagnostic fields. Rely only on the ones above.

Health checks count toward your key's rate limit. Poll at most every few seconds.
