# Get access

> Request a partner API key.

The Route API is in private partner access. There is no self-serve signup.

## Request a key

DM **@rapidssh** with:

* Your project name and a link to it
* What you are building (wallet, app, bot, aggregator)
* Whether you need swap transactions or only quotes
* Rough expected request volume

You will receive a key that starts with `rk_`. It is shown once, so store it somewhere safe.

## Using your key

Send the key as a bearer token on every request:

```bash theme={null}
curl "https://partners.route.fun/health" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $ROUTE_API_KEY"
```

<Warning>
  Call the API from your backend only. Never put the key in a browser bundle, mobile app or public repository. The API does not allow browser cross-origin requests.
</Warning>

## Key permissions

| Permission | Allows |
| - | - |
| Quote | [`GET /quote`](/api-reference/quote) with `in`, `out`, `amount`. Plus [`/tokens`](/api-reference/tokens) and [`/health`](/api-reference/health). |
| Swap | Everything above, plus the transaction parameters on `/quote`: `recipient`, `slippageBps`, `deadline`, `minOut`. |

Ask for swap permission if you want transactions. A quote-only key gets `400 Parameter not available for this key: recipient` when it sends transaction parameters.

## Limits, rotation and revocation

Each key has its own requests-per-minute limit and a cap on concurrent requests. Both are set when the key is issued and can be raised on request. See [errors and limits](/guides/errors-and-limits).

If a key leaks, DM @rapidssh right away. It will be revoked and replaced. Revoked keys get `401 Unauthorized`.
